(Am in a bookshop with no power cord, and my laptop's battery was nearly dead to begin with, so I just caught up with all my shows. I can do comments later on the computer with no speakers ==')

Keeping this short and simple because I feel really awkward here: I'm in Singapore, but without steady computer access because my laptop is completely dead. The hotel business center is very nice and well-equipped, but public spaces have their limits, especially public spaces which are mostly occupied by rich people and stuffy employees.

I'm hoping to get the Thinkpad fixed here as it was, er, manufactured in Singapore, but in the interest of saving money might wait until we get back to Taipei later this week. So, um, not ignoring anyone, just really, really cut off from everything.

On the bright side, after realizing my laptop was totally out of commission around last night, I went to Kinokuniya today and bought The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, along with some Goffman and Feagin stuff and am going to spend the rest of my downtime on this trip being a sociology nerd. I already finished Two-Faced Racism, so I'm done with the self-flagellation. Next is, uh, berating myself for not paying more attention in Econ, I guess.

In Kaohsiung with T1 net access, am caught up with my shows! \o/ ( Spoiler-free keyboard smashing, in large part because keyboard smashing is inherently spoiler-free )

For my own reference, what I'm following with raws: Toshokan Sensou; subs as they come out, Nijuu Mensou no Musume, Itazura na Kiss, Macross Frontier, Junjou Romantica, Mnemosyne; marathoning when finished, Amatsuki.

I'm itchy from mosquito bites. Also, I'm having trouble accessing Livejournal proper (am updating via Semagic), so comment responses are on hold until Firefox stops being a jerk and telling me LJ has irreparable cookie problems. (i.e. when I get back to Taipei with the dumb, ancient computer... sigh)

I think my laptop's dying. The wireless has petered out, one USB port is completely broken, I have to pull things out and juggle plugs and shit just to make the bloody thing turn on, and it likes to randomly freak out for no reason whatsoever. A few days ago it point blank refused to turn on or recognize a power source for about thirty minutes before it suddenly whirred to life. Again, for no reason whatsoever. It's only two years old -- admittedly I abuse it like crazy and it's on almost all the damn time, but it's only two years old. My desktop's in better shape and it's nearing seven.

HATE PERMS. Blahghrhgh I want to wash my haaaaaairrrrrrrrr.
