Hello. Despite appearances I am very much alive. I have found that much of Taiwan lives off ADSL and bad dialup, which is murder if you are trying to hijack wireless from unsuspecting homeowners. As a result I have spent a lot of time socializing, watching terabytes of downloaded video, and writing a lot of really terrible fic.

I have not read my flist in the past week and a half and, barring the apocalypse, don't plan on getting caught up. Basically, if it's not in my e-mail inbox, or wasn't @evaporate'd to me on Twitter, I don't know about it. If you want me to know about it, you should comment on one of my entries or e-mail me or twitter me. For the love of God, do not Facebook me urgent things. I will not notice until, like, February.

I'm headed back to California on January 5th, which I understand is sometime within the next few days? My iPod is on Boston time, my iPhone is on Taiwan time, my laptop is on Bangkok time, and my watch is on Los Angeles time, so I never actually know what time or day it is. I am also still jetlagged.

I would ask if any of you want postcards but my hand still hurts from writing the Thailand ones. The Taiwan ones are going to be superbly half-assed.

I love this stupid thing, it is hilarious. Please watch for the MC being a crackhead, Zhou Mi being super smiley, Kyuhyun being incredibly awkward (and feeding the aforementioned crackhead), an awesome Donghae dance solo, Henry violin solo, Geng dance solo, and a ton of Ryeowook-bullying (poor thing). Also, Youtube says there are English subs, but there... aren't any subs... er. So have a translation. I am sorry if I stepped on any toes.

I'm not going to translate any of the crap that went down at Super Show II. All I know is, if there is a repeat of this at Taiwan I am disowning my countrymen, okay. If you want to know I can tell you but don't expect to hear much happy.

I... have been working on this all day. orz I mean, I didn't get up until like noon, and didn't start until 2 or so because I'd been contemplating Super Show before that, but still. It is long. It covers something like 40 minutes of interview and my fingers are going to fall off now.

The interview portion has already come out. It's super short, which made me wonder why SJ-M even bothered appearing on the show in the first place. Well, as it turns out, they were there for a while. It's just that none of it has aired. And I need it to air. Like, now.

This is translated from a fan report posted by greycat @ Gyuhyun Dynasty.

Zhou Mi noticed that a Kyuhyun fan sitting in the first row of the first section had blown up one of the self-photos that Kyuhyun took at Super Show II [while in his "Gee" costume] and had it printed on a posterboard and was waving it around. So he took it from her, walked over to Kyuhyun, and showed it to him. Kyuhyun totally ignored him and just kept staring straight ahead.

Finally, Siwon took it from Zhou Mi and held it up next to Kyuhyun's face, comparing the two. Han Geng took the sign from him and then very obnoxiously pretended to throw up.

Donghae looked at the photo and then pretended to punch at it, while Ryeowook and Henry stood at the side cracking up.

Kyuhyun finally got sick of the members' reactions, snatched the sign away, and gave it to Zhou Mi, trying to make him give it back to the fan. Zhou Mi said "No!" and hugged the photo against his chest.

Finally Kyuhyun gave up and ignored him. XD

eta: Other accounts say that Kyuhyun didn't give up and ignore him, rather he kept reminding him to give the sign back.

SJ-M did another radio interview, but I'm translating this one because it's about a million times more interesting.

This interview is extremely long (an hour and five minutes), so I've only translated the first 25 or so. I hope you don't mind. I'll finish it in due time, haha. In the second half, the guy talks to Kyuhyun (who really doesn't talk much -- he sings twice, though), a lot of fans call in, and the marriage jokes start cracking. At one point Geng jokes that all of them are going to leave Taiwan with a wife in tow.

SCREAMS WATCH THIS OMG. Kyuhyun, you are the biggest brat to ever brat, you know this, right? ♥♥♥♥♥ (According to the poster Kyuhyun hid behind Zhou Mi to wipe the sweat off his face, and after he was done he showed the used tissue to him [lol what]. Mi for whatever reason offers to let him put the tissue in his pocket, and Kyu behaves for once and just puts it in his own pocket.) Apparently previous fan accounts were wrong! Bummer. *Ergh, another poster says that Mi didn't even have an inner pocket, they were just being... them orz orz whatever I'm confused. o/

11/10 Fei Chang Bu Yi Ban Event

So the filming took place yesterday but it's not going to air until... I don't know when, hopefully soon, because judging by the fan accounts this thing was fucking epic and freaking hilarious and possibly involves Kyuhyun tied up with yellow ribbon.

God, so like, I've been slumped over my desk pretty much all day. I feel like total crap. After dragging myself over to the campus center for lunch and dragging myself back I haven't actually moved from this position. My left leg has fallen asleep, like, four times.

Anyway I spent pretty much this entire weekend watching/listening to random interviews and stalking Baidu bars and I've more or less figured out the stupid split issue behind Kyuhyun's Chinese name. That is, his name is Guixian, and everyone sane (see: interviewers, emcees, Siwon) who talks to him calls him that, except Zhou Mi and Han Geng, who are both utter morons and use Kuixian. I dunno why, they just do. When an emcee uses "Guixian" Geng will immediately switch over, but otherwise I think he defaults to "Kuixian." I don't think Zhou Mi ever calls him by his actual name lolol

I've been trying to make an iPhone wallpaper without success for the past couple of hours because Photoshop keeps crashing. Google tells me this is a display card issue, and in response to this I respectfully thumb my nose at Adobe.

Hi fandom!

Kyuhyun's Chinese name is most assuredly 圭賢. SM Entertainment corroborates this in all of their printed, online, and DVD info. He has written out his name in an interview. All those blinky flashy fan signs? 圭賢. 11,000,000 Google hits? 圭賢. I think we can be pretty sure that that is his name.

圭賢 is pronounced "Gui1 Xian2" 100% of the time and the first character looks the same in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.



His name is not, in any way, shape, or form, "Kuixian." This only works if his name is 奎賢 (Kui2 Xian2), which, if you will note in the image above, Kyuhyun thinks is wrong (this was an interview broadcast in Taiwan, and the mistake was only made once and only on this show). As evidenced by the adorable little "--X/圭--O" he's written next to it. and anyway, if you had to choose between having 圭 or 奎 in your name, 99.9% of people would choose 圭. Because 奎 is the obscure name of one of the stars that make up the Pisces constellation (alternately, quinine!). And 圭 is, you know, jade.

If you want the "K" in there somewhere you want the Wade-Giles romanization (Kuihsien), which, by virtue of being the Wade-Giles romanization, makes no logical, linguistic, or common sense.

In conclusion, I submit that... I have no idea why the hell it is that fandom thinks Kyuhyun's Chinese name is "Kuixian." But I'm going to go eat jello now.
